Gwenyth Beale, PNG Literacy
Gwenyth Beale is looking forward to returning to Papua New Guinea to serve in a combined Global Mission Partners / Pioneer Bible Translators role in the Madang Province. Gwenyth spent her childhood in Papua New Guinea as the daughter of pioneer missionaries, Win and Frank Beale, living in the village of Tsumba.
There are about 40,975 people in the Madang province alone who still have no Bible translation even started in their language group. The literacy rate in this region is currently about 57%. Gwenyth will be living and working in Madang as a Literacy Specialist working alongside PBT translators. Her role will include helping nationals who have had either part or all of the Bible translated into their language to learn to read and write so they can read the Bible and have literacy skills to help them in daily life. They in turn will pass along their knowledge and skills to their people.
Gwenyth is currently completing her Bible College and linguistic training, in preparation for going to PNG sometime after July 2015.
