Taking Up the Poverty Challenge
Posted on Tue, 31/08/2010
Micah Challenge asks us all to set Sunday 10th Oct (10.10.10) aside for prayer as we join millions of sisters and brothers in Christ around the world to pray, promise and act to halve extreme poverty by 2015. 10.10.10 is a global Micah Challenge initiative where an estimated 100 million Christians will pray together.
Micah Challenge is asking churches to begin to plan a meaningful worship service that will lead people to a personal and communal response to poverty. Churches can set aside a whole service or take five minutes to pray and reflect. Micah Challenge has resources available including clips, prayers, sermon notes, bible study materials and worship songs focused on justice. These resources can be found at www.micahchallenge.org.au/micah2010.
Churches are being asked to register, so that Micah Challenge can feed information into the global office and get an accurate picture of what has happened around the world.
