Beating the Drought in Binh Phuoc

At the end of June COCOA-S.E. Asia was given a $5,000 grant from the Week of Compassion Disciples of Christ in the US. This meant that John and Lan Dean could visit Tan Loi Village on 6th July with the specific purpose of organizing more wells to be drilled for minority villagers in their new relocation village. The Vice Chairman of the village received the Deans with sincere expressions of appreciation for considering the villagers once again. He related the effect the drought had, over the previous six months, on villagers living in the local area. Those that lived several kilometres from the wells which were drilled last year were relieved to be able to access water from these wells. They also commented on the good quality of the water. At a meeting of the local People’s Committee, it was decided that more wells would be drilled on the outskirts of each commune so that villagers could access a water station when they run out of water in their village.
