Leaders Challenged to Develop Churches

Samuel Vusi reports that Vanuatu Churches of Christ Conference has just hosted two workshops for the Pacific Conference of Churches. ‘Human Rights’, ‘Good Governance’ and ‘Leadership’ were some of the topics covered in a four day conference held at Vunamele Church (July 5-8) on Santo and Lovunvili (July 12-15). 29 church leaders from Churches of Christ attended along with many from other denominations and ministries.

Ps Graham Kwarney, Director for Church Development, has also organized seven local Leadership Training workshops on different islands throughout the year. Next month’s workshop will be held at Ranwadi on Pentecost.

Church Life on Tanna

Elder William Lomai faithfully continues to have oversight of the church at Leneai. The church is making good progress with young people taking up leadership roles within the church as well as in local outreach. Several visit different churches and villages on Sunday mornings and conduct services again in the afternoons each week. Sometimes they spend the whole weekend at a village since the distances between villages can take 3 – 12 hours to walk. There are still many unreached areas on Tanna.

In December the Youth Convention for Vanuatu Churches of Christ is being hosted by the church on Tanna. They anticipate that several hundred young people from across Vanuatu will attend this week-long conference at Isangel College.
