Nyarai's Story of Life at KCV

Education of the children at Khayelihle Children’s Village (KCV) has been a challenge recently. During the recent teacher’s strike private lessons were organised for the children in Grades 6 & 7 and in Form 4. These year levels were chosen especially because this year they will each sit their crucial end of year exams which will determine their eligibility to continue on to their next level of education.

Nyarai Moyo reflects on how far she’s come since first arriving at KCV 14 years ago.

“Friday 4th December 2009 was the day I graduated from Midlands State University in Zimbabwe with a Bsc Psychology Honours Degree. KCV has moulded me into someone responsible who has been allowed to make my dreams come true.

Living with people who showed me love and compassion, life at KCV has been a joy. Here I saw a family who have unending love and who care for each other because they are a family. It is a pleasure to watch my young brothers and sisters play together and see the eagerness with which they lead prayers during the evening devotions at the Village.

I praise the Lord and so appreciate everyone’s hard work in transforming young lives at KCV. Thank you to everyone for giving me hope and igniting in me the desire to make a difference in other people’s lives.”

KCV cares for 89 children who reside in the village and 105 in the Community Orphan Care Programme.
