English Books for Londua

A request has come through from the teachers at Londua Training School for the following text books which are part of their Year 9/10 English Studies curriculum:

 

I Am David by Anne Holme
The Silver Sword by Ian Serrallien
The Silent One by Joy Cowley
River Ran Out of Eden by James Vance Marshall

 

Last year the Londua principal visited the Vanuatu Department of Education and requested a copy of the text books for the English classes. The Education Department couldn’t provide a copy and so the teacher and Year 9 / 10 English students took turns reading the text aloud to the class. Each of the students managed to pass but it isn’t an ideal way to study and analyse a text.

 

Allen Cox, a GMP volunteer from Queensland supporting the development of the school, contacted the online book company, Amazon. He is able to access three copies from this source. Ideally the school would like to have 20 copies of each of the above text books and 50 copies of a handheld English Dictionary.
