New Projects in Vietnam

Fiona Briers, from Cross Culture Church of Christ in Melbourne, has been working in Ho Chi Minh City since July 2009. She is working towards providing educational training development to local communities, especially the urban poor, along with leadership training and mentoring. It has taken time to gather all the paperwork to submit to the government to register Bright Solutions Vocational Training and Fiona values prayer for this process.

 

Fiona is also working with the United Church of Christ leadership team and supporting them in their roles. The desire is to build community and there has been a gradual deepening and strengthening of friendships and relationships amongst the team. Recently they spent some time together in a retreat discussing their vision, drafting their vision statement and planning for 2010.

 

Binh Thanh Church has become the pilot church for training emerging church leaders and discipling new believers. Fiona conducts discipleship training each week after the church service. The group is fairly constant and occasionally includes new believers or seekers. Fiona has been excited to have individuals willing to ask questions about faith (a new concept for most Vietnamese). The leaders encourage different individuals to participate in leading worship. These are small but encouraging beginnings.
