The upland rural communities of Chiang Mai province include many of the poorest and most marginalised tribal peoples in Thailand. There is a great need for livelihood training and support. The Churches of Christ in Thailand through their Social Development and Service Unit (SDSU) are providing assistance in raising chickens.
GMP is helping the SDSU extend their successfull chicken raising project in both depth and reach. People currently trained to raise chicks will also learn about breeding and slaughtering. An incubator will be added to the current facility.
Three new communities will join the project and gain skills and the necessary community infrastructure to raise day-old chicks to be ready for market at 16-weeks.
